Photography

In an world where we feel increasingly isolated from each other, I am only able to capture how people portray themselves on a surface, first glance level. There is always tension between our private and public presence and I explore where these intersect in everyday life. From the view of an outsider, I am drawn to human flaws and idiosyncrasies and the humor that comes from the interconnection between us. I appreciate the serendipitous moments of humor and endearment as people move throughout their lives.

Life’s changes can be fragile, and we as humans are fragile. Street Photography exposes the blessings and burdens of being alive; juxtaposing the mundane with the peculiar. It also shows moments of inescapable imperfections of life. I continue to photograph the humor of being in the world and the empathy and humility of human beings in our seemingly quotidian lives.

Mixed media

As in photography, I feel humans are somehow displaced from nature. Our overconsumption and waste of everyday items is mind-blowing to me. America chooses to capitalize on everything from one-use plastics for ease to fast fashion clothes for quick money. While conscious of the repercussions, capitalism aims to have us accumulate more poorer quality items to then break making us accumulate more. Obsessive accumulation leads to successive waste.

In my mixed media work, I use found objects in attempt to both divert them from the land fill and put on display he excessive about of waste in our world today.
